Spatial Overview

Floor 1 is a distorted urban block approximately four city streets wide and six deep, compressed under a false sky. The geometry is slightly wrong — parallel streets occasionally converge, and buildings that should be a block apart are neighbors. The System seems to enjoy the confusion.

Tutorial Avenue is the spine of the floor: a broad, rubble-strewn intersection at the center that connects to most other locations by direct line of sight or short walk. Players will pass through it repeatedly.

Terrain Notes by Zone

Tutorial Avenue / Quickie Mart — Broken asphalt, overturned cars used as barricades, flickering System billboards overhead. The central roundabout has a fountain frozen mid-splash. Open and exposed.

Laundromat of Regret — Ground-level storefront. Floor is perpetually damp. Rumbling and banging audible from outside. Neon sign visible at night.

Ratway Sewers — Underground. Damp stone, iron pipes, bioluminescent fungus provides dim light. Tunnels branch; one leads toward the parking garage. The ceiling is low.

Stacked Arms Apartments — Six-story building. Interior staircases loop incorrectly — going up three floors sometimes deposits you on floor two. Exterior fire escape is intact but loud.

Municipal Parking Structure — Concrete, five levels. The levels do not align when viewed from the stairwells. Ramps are slick. Headlights sweep like searchlights.

Food Court — Impossibly large interior for its footprint. Warm, smells of cooking. Noise from vendors covers whispered conversation. The only place on the floor that feels vaguely safe.

Department of Compliance — Three-story gray building. Interior is fluorescent-lit cubicle maze. Identical hallways. The carpet pattern causes mild headaches with prolonged exposure.

Transit Station — Underground entrance via stairs from street level. Signs all point down. No visible tracks, but train sounds echo. The sealed gate to Floor 2 is visible from the platform.

Rooftop Billboard Array — Accessible only via Stacked Arms rooftop. Five massive screens on a shared framework. High wind. No guardrails. The screens rotate slowly.

Employee Breakroom — No exterior presence. Located behind a door that doesn’t appear on any building’s floor plan. Interior is clean, quiet, and anachronistically mundane.
